Steelers, Steelers, Steelers!

On January 23rd, 2010 we here at the WPHS held a Pup Rally and Wagging Tailgate for our furry friends (and their owners) to showcase their Steeler Pride in honor of the AFC Championship game. The Terrible Towels were out in full force and everyone was having fun with rowdy cheers, bumping music and plenty of prizes and snacks to go around. Our thanks go out to all of our sponsors who provided us with prizes to give away and to those who attended for supporting a great event and a great team.

It was a tight game, but with their 24-19 victory over the Jets the Steelers are going to the Super Bowl this Sunday. Naturally, we’re planning ANOTHER Pup Rally for Super Bowl Sunday to support our boys! Here’s hoping Pittsburgh’s own can can climb the Stairway to Seven! Go Steelers!

The Stairway to 7 Pup Rally and “Waggin’ Tailgate” Party will be held at the North Shore shelter on Sunday, February 6th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM upstairs in Learning Center A. This event is presented by Baierl Subaru.

We’ll be giving away prizes for the best dressed dogs and the dogs who look the most like their owner! The first 20 attendees get a Steeler backpack and/or a Steeler Lanyard! We’ll also have great Steelers tunes by DJ H. Robinson, photography by Natalie Rose, raffles, hot dogs, sodas and more!

*As always, dogs MUST be leashed at all times, current on vaccines, and friendly with other dogs.

We’re also having a special on adoptions from now until Sunday. If you come in wearing your Black N Gold, cats over 6 months of age are just $7! If cats aren’t your thing and you’re looking to adopt a dog, your Black N Gold will get you a $10 discount on our adoption fee. All normal adoption procedures apply. You can only get this discount at our main shelter location, not our satellite adoption centers at Petco and Petsmart, so be sure to stop in and see us to show off your Steeler gear!

So come on down and join us for a little pregame fun before the Steelers take the field!
